Release Notes: October 2024

  • Add more setback preferences at column web framing condition

QNT-9411

  • Qnect for CISC (Metric-Imperial sizes) - Added sizes required by client.

QNT-9295

  • UDL Load Calculations
    • UPDATE TO USE SPAN DISTANCE = CL SUPPORT TO CL SUPPORT WHEN AVAILABLE.  IF LOCATION OF SUPPORT IS ONLY AVAILABLE ON ONE SIDE OF CONNECTION, USE OPPOSITE MAGENTA/YELLOW DOT AS OTHER END TO DETERMINE UDL SPAN LENGTH.
  • Moment - Fix web case without weld to moment plate
    • At Moment connections, CISC and AISC, to column web, either directly welded or with moment plates, with shear plate connection at the web connection AND
    • the response to this question:
    • Will the shear plate be welded to Top and Bottom Moment Plates?
    • Is: NO
    • AND the response to this question
    • If shear plate is extended and welded to Top and Bottom Moment plates, what eccentricity should the shear plate and bolts be designed for?
    • Is: Zero eccentricity – per recommendation in AISC manual
    • Qnect is properly designing the bolts with full eccentricity, but improperly designing the shear plate without eccentricity.  This has been resolved.
  • Update axial as percentage of shear functioning and web page questions
    • Update Qnect functioning so axial loads calculated as a percentage of shear at beam to beam and/or as a percentage of beam shear or column axial from these questions below on the Minimum Job Requirements preference page will NOT be added into Tekla model UDA for axial forces when the connection is inserted into the model.
  • CISC MOMENT - Fix doubler weld doubler calc
  • CISC MOMENT - Fix doubler weld
  • Update column Pr calculation for Moment connections to column flange
    • 1. Update this question in the job prefs as follows:

    • When column axial load (Pr) is not provided in the Qnect UDA, or in the model, how would you like us to calculate Pr to check Panel Zone shear capacity?  (Note: Calculating Pr or providing the column compressive load in the model rather than providing the specific column Pr in the Qnect UDA can cause conservative column web reinforcement or reduced connections)

       2. Update functioning as follows:

      a. In the Qnect beam UDA, after the field “Moment - Gravity LL Portion”, add a start and end field for “Moment - Column Pr”

      b. Pr used In order of preference should be:

      1. Pr value provided in Qnect beam UDA. If two sided moment connection and Pr opposite sides conflict, use Pr = max(Pr left, Pr right)

      2. If #1 is blank, Pr provided from model for the column at this section. Pr = max (Nc start, Nc end)

      3. If #1 and #2 are blank, Pr calculated by this preference response

  • BOX GIRDER MOMENT - Welds to column not being shown correctly in the model
    • Fillet Weld case:
    • QNT-9157 - Fillet

    • PJP Weld case
    • QNT-9157 - PJP

    • CJP Weld case
  • QNT-9157 - CJP
