Our software uses cloud-based computing to connect your model to meet AISC requirements within minutes, often seconds. It's super easy and helps you stick to schedule... and we know it's schedule, schedule, schedule… When revisions are required, Qnect allows you to re-engineer and model revisions in seconds.
  • Set your preferences.
  • Select all or part of your model.
  • Push Button 1. Name the session. Submit.
  • Push Button 2. Very quickly, your model is connected.

Preference Optimization

Preference Optimization or P+Op runs your job 10 or more times to compare the cost of different bolt sizes and different connection types. If it is a “mandated” job where the Engineer mandates all of the connection standards, then the software can easily mimic the mandated standards. You could also choose to get an override from the Engineer for all Qnect connections. This is commonly done and will add significantly to the optimization savings total.

Bolt Optimization

Bolt Optimization or B+Op will use your priority bolt sizes (up to three) and will try to make the most efficient connections allowable by AISC engineering requirements. Our computer algorithms may give you vertical spacings of 3”, 3.5”, 4”, 4.5”, 5”, 5.5”, or 6”. You can limit it to the conventional 3” or to any subset with simple selections. You should expect anywhere from 20-50% reduction in the number of bolts, bolt holes, time for bolting, machine use, skilled laborers needed, and erection time.

Doubler Optimization

Our software automatically recognizes “doubler” requirements (needed to reinforce the web due to a cope). Qnect offers a doubler report so you can see exactly which members required doublers. Now you can act very early on to upsize the beam or reduce the load thereby eliminating the doubler condition. The Doubler Report will indicate the maximum load for each affected member in order to eliminate the doublers and will offer two new beam sizes that will efficiently eliminate each doubler.

Available Connection Types

All connections are designed using Qnect's patented iterative process yielding the most efficient connections in the market. All connections follow your user-defined preferences to match your exact requirements.

Below is a partial list of available connection types. All connection types are designed per the AISC steel code. The ones denoted with * support both AISC and CISC codes. Contact us for the most up-to-date list of connection types:

For the Detailer

With Qnect’s fast and intelligent solutions, you can complete more projects in less time. For detailers, we connect the model in minutes and provide optimization data for your customers, all within AISC code. The time and material savings are then passed on to fabricators and erectors. It's a great win for our customers and  our customer's customers.

With your 3D model and a phone call to us, we will complete the user defined preferences, select the entire model or just the section you want connected and the Buttons 1 and 2 will do the rest. In minutes, detailers can connect most steel buildings without capital costs and with minimal on-boarding. And the connections will always work.

Two important benefits of our software include: Preference Optimization and Bolt Optimization. Optimization provides multiple extremely quick runs. They compare different connections and bolt options and then prioritize them. A 20-50% reduction in bolt count, bolt holes, time for bolting, machine use, skilled laborers needed and erection time is typical.

Bringing this value to the project provides more than just savings, it strengthens your relationship with your client.

Do most of your clients provide mandated connections? That’s fine. Many users are also in your situation. Mimicking the standards using our software still saves lots of time on the project and ensures that the connections always follow AISC code requirements each and every time.

For the Fabricator

Win more bids and increase your margins by reducing your costs and improving your schedule.

Always start with analytics to help mitigate the intractable problem of getting drawings to the shop on time. When you implement Qnect’s Preference Optimization, Bolt Optimization and Doubler Optimization solutions, you have access to fast, intelligent data that puts you in control. As a fabricator, you run a tight shop. Avoid costly revisions and rework that not only hurt your team's motivation, but also your bottom line.

Explore how Qnect can:

  • Save $30-$50/ton with Preference Optimization, Bolt Optimization and Doubler Optimization.
  • Realize a 20-50% reduction in bolt count, bolt holes, time for bolting, machine use, skilled laborers needed and erection time.
  • Reduce waiting time for shop drawings, improve factory throughput, revisions turnaround and safety.

Doing this quickly and easily at bid stage helps you be more confident in your numbers and win more bids.

For the Engineer

Use our software as your digital infrastructure to deliver fully-connected 3D models, extend your design development time, dramatically reduce approval time, increase profits and control the engineering.

For the Engineer of Record, Qnect provides unique and detailed reports of all Qnect connections. If you delegate your connections, you are able to review and approve these quickly. For mandated connections, Qnect mimics your requirements and provides the same quality reports for your approval process.

Connection Engineers use Qnect to win more bids, focus on higher margin, complex engineering, deliver value engineering management and increase capacity while making customers very happy.

For the General Contractor

Use Qnect to deliver a model to each bidder, ensuring that they provide the most competitive and realistic proposals. Qnecting your model early will strengthen the schedule and ensure that your next project comes in on time and under budget.
